Following the success of the last World Tobacco Asia series 2008 in Macau, China – starting off to another hopeful year for Tobacco in 2009 is the Bali World Tobacco Asia 2009, held on the 22-24 April 2009 in The Bali International Convention Centre, Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia.
The General Theme of this Year’s opening World Tobacco Asia was ‘ Riding Out The Recession – How The Industry is likely to perform over the next two years and the factors that companies must consider to enable them to survive.
The Tobacco Team at PT Jerindo Sari Utama had the privilege of visiting this year’s opening World Tobacco Asia in Bali together with their Partners from Symrise Germany to keep an update of current trends in the Tobacco Industries in Asia, and particularly in Indonesia, as well as to strengthen relationships with its customers and affiliates.
The First Day of the World Tobacco Asia Bali 2009 saw some interesting and relevant issues being presented, such as ‘The History and Future of the Indonesian Tobacco Industry’ by the Minister from the Indonesian Tobacco Institute, and ‘Predictions and forecasts for the Asian Region’ by Euromonitor International. Host Country - Indonesia has been noted as the World’s Fifth Largest Market for Tobacco Products, with a population of some 230 million people and a vibrant tobacco industry serving both domestic and foreign markets.
The Second Day follows with interesting insights such as ‘Changing trends in flavours and fragrances’ by Horner International , and ‘Automation in the tobacco Industry’ by Beckhoff Automation GmbH.
Besides the strong presences of International Tobacco Flavour Houses found in the Exhibition, representatives from Indonesia’s Leading Cigarette Brands were also present in the World Tobacco Asia Bali 2009.
